Hausvater Project Family Retreat 2012

5 p.m. Thursday, September 20—10 a.m. Saturday, September 22 (update: see detailed schedule, below)

Kamp Dels, Waterville, Minnesota (1 hour south of the Twin Cities)

 

Join us for two nights and one day of faith, family, and friendship!

 

Activities include:

  • Networking & Swapping Stories
  • Potluck & Campfire
  • Game Night or Talent Show
  • Educational sessions: biblical roles of men and women; Christian parenting; family devotion ideas; marriage enrichment.

$40 includes lunch and supper on Friday plus a free book and two T-Shirts for your family.

Family accommodations:

  • Camping starts at $25 per night
  • Cabins (including bathrooms) start at less than $100 per night
  • 5-bedroom house sleeps 16+ (could be shared by multiple families), $260/night

Schedule

Activities are scheduled to ensure that at least one parent always will be available for your children. When husbands and wives split sessions, nursing babes are, of course, welcome to stay with mothers.

    • Family Session I: "Seeking Godly Counsel" (This session will introduce families to each other and to the Hausvater Project. We will also share our devotion resources and identify our unique talents with one another at this time.)
  • 9:30 a.m.
    • Women's Session I: "A Help Meet for Her Husband" (How can wives be helpers who are meet (or suitable) for their specific husbands, based on their husbands' personality?)
    • Men and Children: Holy Land Map Project
  • 10:30 a.m.
    • Men's Session I: "Being God’s Man of the House" (Men will discuss how Scripture defines Godly manhood, with a particular focus on the vocations of husband and father.)
    • Women and Children: Large Motor Activities
  • 11:30 a.m.
    • Hebrew Prayer Lesson
    • Lunch Provided by Hausvater: Sandwiches (GF Bread available), Veggies, Pickles, Yogurt
  • 12:30 p.m.
    • Family Session II: "A Family for Christ's Sake" (Marriage and parenting aren't about me being me, but about me being for you—because Christ is for us. Bring your questions; discover God's answers.)
    • Children: Christian Video Viewing
  • 1:30 p.m.
    • Family Scavenger Hunt/Nap Time (Catch some Zs or run around for a scavenger hunt based on Bible themes.)
  • 3:00 p.m.
    • Women's Session II: "Balance in the Home" (This "round robin" discussion will focus on how to best use the time God has given us to complete the tasks He has given us -- instead of cramming things into our day.)
    • Men and Children: Large Motor Activities
  • 4:00 p.m.
    • Men's Session II: "Christian Discipleship" (How can the Bible, the Hymnal, and the Catechism serve as your family's core curriculum from birth through maturity? What can a husband do to lead, protect, and provide for his family's deepest needs?)
    • Women and Children: Make and Take Craft
  • 5:00 p.m.
    • Supper Provided by Hausvater: Grilled Meat, Coleslaw, Chips, GF Rice Krispy Bars
  • 6:00 p.m.
    • Individual Family Devotions
  • 6:30 p.m.
    • Game Night (bring a game or toy to share)

Saturday, September 22
